Decorations on a tombstone on Hietzing cemetery in the 13th district of Vienna, near the tomb of Gustav Klimt

The tombs of Hietzing cemetery are particularly elaborately decorated. This one depicts a lady turning her face away from the allegory of death and looking upwards, like longing for heaven. Most tombs of the Friedhof Hiezting date back to the 19th century, but are still in use by local families.

The cemetery is full with polished marble and granite, proving that Hiezting is the wealthiest district of Vienna and the second-most expensive to live in - after the first district, the city centre.
