angel in hietzing cemetery: Cemeteries of Vienna
back to "vienna
cemeteries"
An angle statue guards a tomb on the Imperial cemeterey of Hietzing, the 13th district of Vienna. The cemetery of Hietzing is probably the most exclusive place to be dead at in all of Vienna - just around the corner of the Palace of Schönbrunn and the Tiergarten.
The neighbourhood is a good starting point for a "Vienna behind the scenes" walk - take subway U4 to the stop "Hietzing" and go for a walk in the parks; move upwards to the hill, where you ultimately get to the cemetery; stroll back through the villa neighbourhood around Trautmannsdorffgasse and finish your excursion with a coffee at Cafe Dommayer. You will get a good impression from various relics of the Empire that are still dominant features in Hietzing.
